Sismo collects data to use it for various purposes, but the main reason is to provide you with an efficient, optimized, and user-friendly website experience.
Specifically, we collect (personal) data from you for the following reasons:
We use Google Analytics to collect and analyze information about how our website is used, which helps us understand which pages are most popular, how people find our site, and which browsers and devices are most used. We use these insights to improve the overall user experience of our website.
Using the Facebook Pixel, we can create targeted Facebook ads for our previous website visitors without even knowing who you are. This helps us target people who have already shown interest in our website, services, or products, so we do not need to show irrelevant ads. The Facebook Pixel code also helps us measure the effectiveness of our ads by linking an action on our website (e.g., submitting the contact form) to an ad campaign.
When you contact us via our website, anonymized data may be sent to WPForms, the contact form plugin we use, so they can monitor the technical performance of our forms and detect and prevent technical issues.
We also use a WordPress plugin called WordFence, which helps protect our website against malware, unauthorized login attempts, and other security threats. This plugin may use cookies to store information about failed login attempts, your IP address, or other security-related data to help us better protect our website.
The data we collect from you is stored on a server hosted by our partner Combell. They are the engine behind our website and ensure it is accessible, fast, reliable, convenient, and safe for you.
Combell, like us, takes your privacy and online security very seriously and will protect your data with the same level of care. You can read more about this in their privacy policy.
In addition to Combell, our website also uses several plugins to provide you with extra functions and content. These companies may also process your personal data. Of course, we ensure that every external company, developer, or provider we work with for our website complies with the same strict GDPR regulations and requirements.
The following third parties are involved in the collection of our website data: Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, WPForms, WordFence. Each link leads you to their respective privacy policy page.
Sismo may disclose your personal data in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to:
comply with a legal obligation;
protect and defend the rights or property of Sismo;
prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with the service;
protect the personal safety of users of the service or the public;
protect against legal liability.
Your information, including personal data, may be transferred to – and maintained on – computers located outside your state, province, country, or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ from those of your jurisdiction.
If you are located outside Belgium and choose to provide information to us, please note that we transfer the data, including personal data, to Belgium and process it there (Combell’s servers are located in Belgium, therefore your data are processed and stored there).
Other data, such as analytical data (Google Analytics) and security-related data (WordFence), may be transferred to other countries such as the United States for processing and storage.
Your consent to this privacy policy, followed by your submission of such information, represents your agreement to this transfer.
Sismo will take all reasonably necessary steps to ensure that your data are treated securely and in accordance with this privacy policy, and no transfer of your personal data will take place to an organization or a country unless adequate controls are in place including the security of your data and other personal information.
When we share your data with an external service, we do our utmost to ensure they are 100% GDPR-compliant and make sufficient efforts to protect this personal data as well as we do.
Personal data are processed and stored by us for a reasonable period of time necessary to achieve the intended purposes, depending on our contractual relationship with you or to comply with legal requirements.
All personal data collected through the contact forms on our website remain in our secure website database for as long as reasonably necessary. We regularly clean our database to delete old data that are no longer needed to fulfill our business obligations or to contact you.
Right of access
If you are a European resident, you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, and to know how, why, and for how long we have processed it.
Right to request corrections or deletion
You also have the right to request that your personal data be corrected, updated, or deleted. If you wish to exercise this right, you can contact us via the contact details at the bottom of this page.
If you are a European citizen, please also note that we process your information to fulfill contracts with you, or otherwise to pursue our legitimate business interests as listed above.
Right to restrict processing
In certain situations, we may no longer use your data, but also cannot (yet) delete it.
Upon request, we must temporarily stop using your data – this is called the right to restrict processing.
You can request restriction of processing in the following cases:
The accuracy of the data is disputed;
You do not want the data to be deleted;
The data are no longer needed for the original purpose but may not yet be deleted for legal reasons;
The decision on your objection to the processing is still pending.
“Restriction” means that your personal data, with the exception of storage, may only be processed with your consent for the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims, for the protection of the rights of another natural or legal person, or for reasons of public interest of the EU or an EU member state. You must be informed before the restriction is lifted.
Right to data portability
You have the right to obtain the data you have provided to us in a structured, usable, and machine-readable format, so you can easily transfer the data to another data processor.
Right to withdraw consent
Your consent can be withdrawn at any time. Of course, this only applies to the data we have obtained solely on the basis of your consent. Data we obtain or must keep on the basis of a legal obligation (e.g., accounting) or an agreement (e.g., we still need to provide your service or product) are excluded.
Complaints
Complaints about the way we process your data can be submitted to the Belgian Data Protection Authority: http://www.privacycommission.be.
When you request access to, transfer of, deletion of, or corrections to the data we hold about you, please allow us up to 30 days to process the request. We always do our best to respond as quickly as possible, but some requests may take longer depending on the complexity and volume of the data concerned.
Finally, we would like to draw your attention to the fact that our website may contain links to third-party websites. A link does not automatically mean there is a connection between us and the other websites, nor that we (implicitly) agree with the content of those websites.
We are not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of third-party websites. Once you click an external link, you leave our website and we can no longer be held liable for any damage. We recommend that you always carefully read the privacy policy of each website you visit.
Because we continue to improve our website, we may need to update our privacy and cookie policy from time to time. When this happens, the date at the top of this page will also be updated, so you are always aware of the new effective date. We also encourage you to regularly check our policy.
